Dense fog triggers multiple car collisions on Agra-Lucknow expressway, one injured

Early this morning, a severe road accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, due to thick fog. The incident occurred near the Nasirpur Cut, where four cars collided into a stationary DCM truck parked at the side of the road. Reduced visibility from the dense fog caused drivers to struggle with recognizing obstacles, resulting in a multi-vehicle pile-up.

At least one person, a car passenger from Azamgarh, sustained injuries in the collision. After receiving initial medical attention at the scene, the injured individual was referred to Saifai Medical College for further treatment. The person’s condition is currently stable, with no immediate threat to life.

Local residents and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to help with rescue operations. With the assistance of bystanders, they worked to free those trapped in the wrecked vehicles. Emergency responders also managed to clear the debris from the road, allowing traffic to continue with minimal delays. Despite the severity of the accident, there were no further reports of fatalities.

This accident highlights a growing concern over road safety in northern India during the winter months, as dense fog continues to affect visibility. In addition to this morning’s incident, similar pile-ups have occurred in recent weeks. On November 13, a mini-truck struck two motorcyclists at Meera Chauraha in Firozabad, leading to one death and serious injuries for another. On November 9, a bus collided with a truck on the same expressway, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives and injuries to 17 people.

The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for northern India, including the Delhi NCR region, warning of ongoing dense fog conditions and further disruptions in road and air travel in the coming days. With temperatures continuing to drop, visibility will remain a challenge for drivers and passengers across the region.
